STATE DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
APPLAUDS PROCUREMENT CENTER
Precision Component Industries Receives PTAC Award
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 1, 2003
Columbus, OH -- State Development Director Bruce Johnson today recognized
Precision Component Industries (PCI), LLC, located in Canton (Stark County),
as the Ohio Department of Development's Procurement Technical Assistance
Center (PTAC) 2002 Outstanding Business of the Year.
The PTAC Outstanding Business of the Year award is presented to companies
that demonstrate extraordinary success in the pursuit of government
contracting opportunities and their continued support and advocacy of the
PTAC program.
"I congratulate PCI for its success in building its business through
procurement opportunities," Director Johnson said. "I'm pleased that the
Ohio Department of Development, through the PTAC program, is able to offer
assistance to Ohio companies interested in securing government contracts."
PCI, owned by Tricia Gerak, was awarded $500,376 in prime and subcontract
awards from several government agencies and prime companies in 2002 to
manufacture replacement parts such as shafts, pistons, sleeves, collars,
spindles and adapters for various Army and Navy applications. The company is
also participating in the U.S. Air Force's elite "Manufacturing Technical
Assistance Pilot Program," furthering its position as a cost effective
high-quality core supplier to the Department of Defense. PCI is one of three
Ohio firms currently participating in this program. The Kent PTAC office,
located at the Kent Regional Business Alliance, played a significant role in
helping PCI obtain these contracts.
In 2002, Ohio's Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC) counseled
646 entrepreneurs and assisted in more than 3,564 follow-up counseling
sessions. This assistance resulted in more than $143.1 million in government
contracts and the creation or retention of 3,367 jobs. In addition to
counseling and one-on-one training, Ohio PTACs offer marketing and
information resources, bid matching services, product and procurement
histories, military specifications and trade events where Ohio firms can
interface with government buyers. For more information about Ohio's PTAC
program and local service centers visit www.ohioptac.org.
